HEALTHCARE

I believe healthcare is a human right. That’s why I support Medicare for All to guarantee every American has access to comprehensive, affordable care.

In Congress, I’ve fought to lower costs and expand coverage—helping cap insulin at $35 a month, reduce out-of-pocket costs for seniors, and make care more affordable for millions of families. I’ve also worked to protect reproductive rights, expand Medicare benefits, and ensure patients can get the care they need without barriers.

Here at home, I’ve delivered critical funding to improve local healthcare access, expand services, and support providers serving our most vulnerable communities.

Because no one should have to choose between their health and putting food on the table.

Seniors have earned the right to retire with dignity and security. I’m focused on protecting Social Security and making sure it’s there for the long haul—without cuts or privatization.

I’ve worked to lower healthcare costs, including capping insulin at $35 a month and limiting out-of-pocket expenses for seniors on Medicare. I also support expanding Medicare so it covers more of what people actually need, from dental to vision and hearing care.

No one should be stretched thin after a lifetime of work. My priority is making sure seniors can afford their medications, keep up with rising costs, and live with the stability they deserve.

SENIORS

VETERANS

More than 50,000 veterans call our community home, and looking out for them is something I take seriously. When people come back from service, they shouldn’t have to fight to get care, find work, or rebuild their lives.

I’m proud to have voted for:

  • Expanded access to healthcare for veterans exposed to toxicity
  • Better access to service animals for our veterans.
  • The largest cost-of-living benefit increase in 10+ years.
  • Increased food assistance for low-income veterans
  • Housing solutions and rental assistance for veterans.

I’ve also helped bring federal funding to El Paso, including a new VA healthcare center, and introduced legislation to make sure it opens ready to serve veterans the right way.

We owe it to those who served to keep our promises when they return.

I’ve spent more than 10 years working to position El Paso as a leader in advanced manufacturing—bringing in investment, supporting local businesses, and helping create good-paying jobs right here at home.

In Congress, I’m focused on making the economy work for working families. I’ve backed efforts to raise wages, support small businesses, and make sure corporations and the ultra-wealthy pay their fair share. I also support policies that help families keep more of what they earn, from expanding the Child Tax Credit and guaranteeing paid family leave to investing in affordable housing and childcare, raising the minimum wage, and more.

My focus is simple: grow our local economy, create good jobs, and make sure working Americans aren’t left behind.

IMMIGRATION REFORM

Washington has failed to fix our broken immigration system for decades. That’s why, in 2023, I led the introduction of the Dignity Act, the only bipartisan, comprehensive immigration reform bill in over a decade, working alongside a Republican colleague to deliver real solutions.

My plan takes a practical, common-sense approach: strengthening border management, modernizing legal immigration, and restoring dignity to people navigating a broken system. The Dignity Act creates a pathway to legal status for long-term undocumented immigrants, protects Dreamers, expands legal pathways for workers and families, and improves how we process asylum claims.

I’ve also led efforts to keep families together, protect civil rights, and ensure accountability in our immigration system—because we can have a secure border and stay true to our values at the same time.

It’s time to move past political talking points and finally get immigration reform done.

Climate change is already affecting our communities, and I’ve treated it like the urgent issue it is. I served on the Select Committee on the Climate Crisis and helped pass the largest investment in clean energy in our nation’s history—cutting emissions, lowering energy costs, and putting us on a more sustainable path.

Here at home, I led the effort to protect Castner Range, preserving thousands of acres of open space for future generations after decades of local advocacy. I’ve also pushed for practical solutions that help communities prepare for extreme weather and build resilience.

I’m focused on expanding clean energy, protecting our natural spaces, and making sure communities like ours have the resources to adapt and thrive.

EDUCATION

I believe every child deserves access to a strong public education, no matter their zip code. That’s why I’m working to invest in our schools—from pre-K through college—so students have the tools they need to succeed.

In Congress, I’ve supported efforts to fully fund special education, expand access to financial literacy and enrichment programs, and improve school facilities. I’ve also delivered millions in funding to our community—helping schools expand broadband access, invest in clean transportation, and create more opportunities for students.

Because investing in education means investing in our future.

El Pasoans know the impacts of gun violence.

Long before a gunman entered our kind community with lethal actions, we’ve needed comprehensive gun safety legislation.

I’ve written and supported gun safety bills, including:

  • Banning assault weapons
  • Required safe storage of firearms
  • Background check for firearm sales
  • Expanding penalties for mass shooters
  • Creating active shooter mobile alerts
  • Closing loopholes for violent offenders, and more.

EQUALITY

Our nation is made stronger with diversity. Which is why we must fight and protect equality among everyone. Regardless of race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, or identity, each person’s rights must be protected.

I support:

  • Marriage equality
  • Equal pay
  • A woman’s right to choose her healthcare
  • Expanded inclusion for those with disabilities, and more.

I believe voting should be simple, secure, and accessible to every eligible American.

Congress must continue to fight to pass federal voting rights legislation that will:

    • Make Election Day a federal holiday
    • Establish automatic voter registration through the DMV
    • Require states to offer early voting
    • Protect election workers
    • Limit “dark money” in elections
    • End gerrymandering nationwide
    • Reinstate the historic Voting Rights Act

I’m proud to have launched my own campaign-funded voter registration program, “Vote El Paso,” which has registered thousands of El Pasoans to date.

SERVICEMEMBERS

With Fort Bliss in our backyard, our community is closely connected to the men and women who serve. For many, El Paso is where deployments begin—and where they come home.

I’ve worked to make sure service members and their families have what they need, from better pay and housing to access to healthcare and childcare. That includes supporting pay raises for enlisted troops, expanding mental health services, and cutting costs for military families.

I’ve also backed legislation to restore housing benefits, protect service members from discrimination, and ensure servicewomen and military families can access the care they need—no matter where they’re stationed.

At Fort Bliss, I’ve helped secure major investments to strengthen readiness, improve facilities, and build a stronger pipeline between our local students and military careers.

Supporting those who serve means paying attention to the details that affect their daily lives.
